Why Condensation Forms in the First Place

3. Condensation between the panes

If you see fog or moisture trapped between the panes of a double- or triple-glazed unit — where you cannot wipe it away from either side — the airtight seal of that insulated glass unit has failed. The sealed gas fill has leaked out and humid air has worked its way in. A unit in this state has lost much of its insulating value and will not recover on its own.
